Basic Security in the Field

I’m off soon to work with young people affected by violence. (child soldiers). They wouldn’t let me go unless I complete the United Nations Advanced Security in the Field course. Well I’ve just done the basic course, with a certificate to prove it. Some interesting little tips when next you go shopping in Tesco’s and the unexpected happens: If shot-at and you have to leave your vehicle; hide behind the engine block. When shot at in the open drop down on the ground and crawl to cover. Generally don’t talk to kidnappers unless they talk to you and remember - it is preferable to spend two days sitting in a mine-field waiting for help than to unsuccessfully try to retrace your steps.
